The French Countryside Inspired This Wedding in Illinois

Real Weddings

After mutual friends told Morin and Geoff that they would be perfect together, it took the couple just one month to realize their pals were right. "We started hanging out in a group, and ended up spending almost every day together during the summer of 2009," says Morin. When fall rolled around, she and Geoff both headed back to their respective colleges, then spent five years dating long-distance through undergrad and graduate school. "I would do it all over again if it would mean ending up right where we are," she says.

On June 2, 2013, during a weekend trip to her parents' Wisconsin lake house, Geoff proposed at the end of the dock. "He remembered that my dad proposed to my mom at the end of her stepfather's pier in Wisconsin, and wanted to continue the tradition," Morin explains. They took their time planning a wedding, spending two years working on the details of their June 20, 2015 celebration in Illinois. Morin's Hayley Paige gown featured a ruched organza sweetheart bodice and a modified A-line skirt. She paired it with a chapel-length veil and drop earrings. Her bouquet combined garden roses in pink and white with soft hydrangeas and astilbe.

Geoff's classic tux was complemented by the watch Morin's brother gave him on their wedding day, along with a boutonniere of white blooms.

Bridesmaids' bouquets were made of pink and peach roses, with thistles added for texture.

Morin's bridesmaids wore light gray gowns with a sweetheart neckline, while the groomsmen wore tuxedos with gray vests.

Morin's father walked her down the aisle of St. Patrick Parish, where her uncle, a Catholic priest, officiated. "The towering windows are so stunning and the view is gorgeous, so we didn't decorate the church at all," says the bride.

The couple's pup joined them for portraits before the reception.

Mercury glass vases and soft pink and peach roses complemented the gray and ivory color scheme. Lush arrangements helped create the French countryside vibe.

Black and white striped runners popped on the tables and were topped with hydrangeas and roses in mercury glass vases. Morin found these reclaimed wood table numbers on Etsy!

The four-tiered cake, frosted with white buttercream, featured chocolate and vanilla layers with strawberry filling.

Geoff planned the honeymoon, and Morin had no idea where they were going until their first dance started. "We knew we'd be dancing to 'Tenerife Sea' by Ed Sheeran, and when the song started, Geoff told me that we'd be going there on our honeymoon!" Two days after their wedding, the couple boarded a plane to the Canary Islands.
