When many talk about traveling halfway around the world, South Africa is usually one of their destinations. The beautiful and vast country is known for its array of ecosystems: big game and shrublands in its numerous safari parks; lavish vineyards in the Western Cape; sandy and beautiful beaches in Durban; dense forests along the Garden Route; sky-climbing peaks at Table Mountain. When considering all of the above, you can imagine that the country is full of picturesque views, adventure, and excitement. All of these qualities make it the perfect destination for your honeymoon. We tapped the expert advice of Steenberg Hotel Manager Catherine Schulze, for five things you must do when vacationing in South Africa with your newly-minted spouse.

There are only a few places in the world where you'll be able to get up close and personal with the Big Five: the Cape buffalo, African elephant, African lion, African leopard, and black/white rhino. That's the whole draw of a safari and it's a sensory and thrilling experience. South Africa is home to many nature reserves, national parks, and camps. Schulze recommends Camp Jabulani "as you get to ride the elephants which is magical for any couple and they do a great cheetah outreach."

Winelands Experience
Does anything say relaxation and romance better than a trip to a vineyard? South Africa is famous for its wine region and the beautiful scenery that goes along with it. There is a vineyard adjacent to Steenberg Hotel with wine tasting and Schultz also suggests, "Stellenbosch , Franschoek , and Somerset West which are the most amazing wineries with the most beautiful scenery". You can stay at one of the vineyard's hotels, spend a couple of days there, and even take a horseback riding trip between the trio.

Sightseeing Tour of Johannesburg
If you're from a metropolis, you'll feel at home in the streets of Johannesburg. Parts of it feel like New York City and others like the streets of San Francisco. There is so much history in the city from Soweto to Mai Mai market downtown in the city proper. If you're a couple who thrives on knowledge and learning about other cultures, a city tour of Jo'burg will be just the thing for you. You can also take in a show at the Teatro at Montecasino: Alvin Ailey was one of its most recent performances.

Table Mountain
If you've never seen a mountain in the middle of a bustling city, then your jaws will most likely drop at the first sight of Cape Town. And the picturesque views aren't the only amazing part about the city: it has a ton of things to offer from some of the finest restaurants in the world to penguin sightings. Table Mountain is the aforementioned summit we talked about and it's truly breathtaking. The cable car that takes you to the top of the mountain will render you speechless, but it will be worth it once you get to the top. You will undoubtedly have the best pictures on social media after your trip and a memory that you can cherish forever.

Garden Route
If you love greenery, you'll fall helplessly in love with the flourishing and blooming Garden Route, with all of its vegetation, lakes, and lagoons. It also has the second mildest climate in the world. Head to one of the area's many quaint bed and breakfasts, take an oceanside hike, or dine on some of the finest seafood around the globe.
