Angel Sanchez is a master of marrying the whimsical with the modern. With his sharp silhouettes and delicate details, we always look forward to seeing his fresh spin on bridal standbys like florals and lace. This season's runway show was no exception with dainty floral appliqués dotting large swaths of illusion net and architectual bodices.

For Fall 2016 Angel Sanchez played with illusion even more than he has in the past. And unlike most bridal designers, who use illusion necklines and backs to seamlessly blend heavy fabrication with an almost ombré effect of appliqués, Sanchez chose to create a stark contrast. Clearly defined bodices were offset with an almost entirely nude illusion neckline. Or, like one of our favorite looks, an entirely nude back with only buttons gracefully climbing up the spine — a nod to tradition, while still being so overtly modern.

Flowers were very important to this collection, crowding one skirt and then climbing over the shoulder on an illusion neckline looking almost like a piece of armor.

Jacquard proved to be a dominant fabric, softening the hardened bodices and striking, sharply asymmetric skirts. On one look, a bundle of oversized blooms also made the look inherently more romantic.

We're overwhelmed with the beauty of these gowns! Stay tuned to see the entire Angel Sanchez Fall 2016 wedding dress collection in our complete slideshow.
