A Winter Wedding in San Francisco That Was Packed With Plenty of Local Details

Real Weddings

Lisa Gonzales and Ranjeet Singh's relationship started with a Facebook request in June 2008. "Looking back, it was pretty creepy that I added him," laughs Lisa. But her risky move eventually worked in her favor. Three years later, the two reconnected, started dating, and moved back to San Francisco. That's why, when it came time for their December 20, 2014 wedding, they invited their 185 guests to the city where they fell in love: San Francisco. "I went to college here and Ranjeet has lived here his whole life," says Lisa. "It just made sense for us!"

The couple decided on destination-themed invites, glamming it up with a gold font and illustration of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The bride's body-hugging Lazaro gown fit like a glove. "I found it on Pinterest and knew it was the one," says the bride. She paired her dream dress with gold Jimmy Choo shoes, a cathedral-length veil, and her future sister-in-law's diamond bracelet (her something borrowed!).

Ranjeet looked equally as sharp in a black tuxedo from John Varvatos as he joined his future wife for pictures outside the hotel and in the streets of San Francisco.

Lisa's bridal party went with a totally glam look, choosing metallic dresses by Ralph Lauren and statement diamond earrings. Like the bride, they carried full bouquets of white peonies.

Lisa and Ranjeet created a candle-lit winter wonderland for their ceremony, complete with a backdrop of baby's breath. The groom's sister officiated as the couple exchanged vows they'd written themselves. "We kept our vows a secret until ceremony time," says Lisa. "They were so emotional!"

After the ceremony, guests found their names on calligraphed escort cards that hung on a tree of satin ribbon and baby's breath.

With the help of her mother, Lisa filled the gold ballroom with loads of glittering décor. Everything from the 10-foot-tall birch trees to the tablecloths were dripping with crystals, furthering enhancing the already opulent space.

After a dinner of filet mignon, garlic shrimp, and truffled mashed potatoes, a group of Indian dancers surprised the crowd with a Bollywood-style routine during dessert.

Following their dance party reception, the newlyweds jetted off to Thailand and Japan for their honeymoon. Looking back, Lisa has some been-there-done-that advice for brides-to-be. "Stick to your budget," she says. "We didn't and we're paying for it now. Literally!"
