Ways to Feel at Home on Your Honeymoon

Chances are, you're staying someplace awfully nice on your honeymoon. But that doesn't mean that everything is always perfect in paradise. Here, a few ways to ensure your comfort.

1. Know what you're picky about.
For example, if you just can't sleep without your pillow, ask ahead what type the resort has and — if you don't like the answer — bring yours along. The same goes for towels and bath products, too.

2. Understand your sleep preferences.
If you're someone who is sensitive to noise, call ahead and request a room on a high floor away from the elevator and on the quiet side of the building. Then, bring ear plugs, just in case. If light is your issue, pack a face mask.

3. Ask for an early check-in and late-check-out.
There's nothing worse than arriving at an airport and heading to your hotel only to find that your room won't be ready for hours. You probably want a shower, or maybe a nap, and instead you're stuck on the proverbial honeymoon bench. Plan ahead, let the hotel know what time your flight arrives, and ask if there's anything they can do for you.

4. Bring your own candles.
If you're planning to have at least one romantic night in, pack whatever you need to create the scene — from candles and matches to bubble bath or massage oil — so you don't have to waste precious honeymoon time hunting things down.

5. Get a data plan.
Nothing can make you feel more disoriented than disrupting your cell service. Whether you're used to checking in with friends and family by text, or keeping up with your clan on Facebook and Instagram, however you use your phone, you want to have the option of maintaining normalcy on your honeymoon. Call your cell service provider before you leave home, and ask for a package that give you texting and data at a discounted rate.
