Finding someone who supports the same college teams as you do is incredibly important, especially when that team is FSU. Thankfully, Angela and Alex found one another in April of 2008. "My friends and I invited him out for my birthday," she remembers. "He actually showed up, and the rest is history!" Six years later, during a bike ride to their favorite brunch spot, Alex surprised Angela with a picnic by the lake and a sweet proposal. "Then, when we walked back into our house, we walked straight into a surprise engagement party with our family and friends!" Angela says.
The couple knew they wanted to get married in Florida, so they set the date for April 25th, 2015 at The White Room in St. Augustine. Says Angela, "I saw pictures online and loved it. As soon as we walked out on to the rooftop and saw the amazing views, I knew we'd found the place." They invited just 105 guests to celebrate with them, filling the space with a punchy coral and gold color scheme. And the playful hues and pops of glitter wouldn't be complete without gorgeous photographs, taken by Still55 Photography.
The couple kicked off the Florida theme with coral invitations and a waterfront rehearsal dinner. Angela and her bridesmaids started the day with lots of pampering, all while decked out in matching peachy pajamas.
Soft pink pumps, accented with crystals on the heels, added a little color to Angela's wedding-day ensemble. Her lace Romona Keveza gown was selected with help from her mom, sister, mother-in-law, and Alex's brother's girlfriend. "I lit up the second I put it on," Angela says. Her veil and jewelry were her "something borrowed," worn by her sister on her own wedding day. The bright bouquet was a mix of finesse roses, coral peonies, white hydrangea, and coral ranunculus, wrapped with satin ribbon and tied with a seashell charm from a bracelet her grandmother had made as a young woman.
Alex looked sleek (and beach appropriate!) in a khaki tuxedo.
The bridesmaids' dresses were floor-length chiffon and matched the bouquets perfectly. "My sister found two dresses — one in the silhouette we wanted, one in the color we wanted — and knew the combo would be gorgeous," says Angela. Groomsmen matched Alex, providing a neutral backdrop for the girls' colorful frocks.
The ceremony took place on the roof, with ocean views in the background. Alex and Angela exchanged traditional vows in front of an altar draped in white fabric.
Inside, exposed brick walls were complemented by white linens and candlelight. Centerpieces were a combination of gold candelabras and low arrangements of roses in white and coral.
The sweetheart table was topped with a gold vase that held Angela's bouquet and glittering "Mr. & Mrs." signs.
After guests dined on chicken Florentine and pepper-seared beef tenderloin, Alex and Angela had their first dance to "Never Stop" by Safety Suit.
For their wedding cake, layers of vanilla cake with strawberry filling and chocolate cake with raspberry filling were topped with gold fondant and white and coral sugar flowers.
As a nod to their alma mater, Alex and Angela cut into a groom's cake decorated with the FSU Seminole in Alex's favorite flavor: key lime!
"When guests went downstairs for our sparkler exit, Alex and I had one last dance just the two of us," says Angela. "It was so special to have that quiet moment alone."
The couple honeymooned in Greece. "We tried to splurge on our top priorities instead of letting all the details run up the cost. Having an amazing honeymoon was so worth it!"
