Naturally, you want your honeymoon to be relaxing, but that doesn't mean you have to sit on the beach all day. From road trips to an African safari, here are five unique honeymoon ideas for couples that don't want to jet off to a warm-weather destination.
1. Road trip
We know it seems a bit simple to just hop in a car and ride off into the sunset with your newly-minted spouse, but road trips are both fun and intimate. You'll get to jam to your favorite songs, see places you might never have viewed otherwise, and talk with no one else around. You can also stop along the way and pay some pretty great hotels a visit.
2. A tour of Italy
If you and your spouse love to travel and see the world, there's nothing better than adding a little history into the mix. Start with the Duomo in Milan, make your way over to the canals of Venice, head down to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, take a scenic train ride to Rome for St. Peter's Basilica and the Colosseum, and then travel to Capri for the ultimate in relaxation.
3. Sink your teeth into Dracula's castle
Dracula is one of the world's oldest stories and though he was feared, he also lived lavishly — given his Count status. His castle in Romania (officially known as Bran Castle) is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
4. An African safari
Everyone makes a big deal about lions, tigers, and bears, but what about seeing rhinoceros, leopards, and giraffes in their natural habitat? There's one surefire way to make sure that happens: going on an African safari. For the adventurous pair, this will be hard to beat and you'll surely be talking about it and sharing pictures for years to come.
5. Tour the ruins of Indonesia
Earth's age and all of its amazing corners are awe-inspiring. Nothing is more breathtaking and memorable than visiting the ruins of Southeast Asia. Prambanan, Borobudur, and Ratu Boko are temples shrouded in mystery and are inexplicably beautiful. Your heart and outlook on life will be renewed and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the sunrise and sunset.
