The best manner of determining which of your guests have food allergies is by utilizing a survey approach. If you feel comfortable doing so, add a line on your RSVP card requesting that guests list any severe food allergies. With the return of each RSVP, you will not only be able to secure an accurate head count, you will also generate a thorough picture of how many guests have food sensitivities, and therefore which foods to avoid serving. If you prefer to leave the inquiry off your wedding invitations, you might consider sending out a group email to your guests seeking those with allergies to provide details of their intolerances. Whichever method you choose, be sure to provide a simple method for your guests to respond with the requested information so you can secure an understanding of their dietary restrictions well before the wedding.
