Watch Hayley Paige's Wedding Video (and Learn More About Her Many Wedding Dresses!)

Real Weddings, Wedding Dresses

If you can rely on bridal designer Hayley Paige for one thing, it's feminine designs with a dose of modern sparkle. So it didn't surprise us one bit after looking at her wedding video, shot by Light the Moment, that her entire celebration (and many outfit changes) were full of that bubbly, inventive aesthetic we know and love from her collections.

Her wedding was so enchanted that it actually involved a blue unicorn (yes, a blue unicorn!). "I wanted a unicorn to be present on our wedding day, but I did not request for her to be blue," Paige explains. "My wedding producer added this fantastic surprise since she knew I was a bridal designer, a fan of Tim Walker photography, and still needed my something blue. Danny and I were particularly moved by her presence because we love Avatar, Starwars, and anything sci-fi fantasy related." (Don't worry, the horse was a rescue that does equine therapy, and the blue material is natural and approved for animals! The couple also donated to a children's hospital in her honor.)

And while there was a lot of party to be had, Paige's favorite moment from the wedding was walking down the aisle. "Clich; as it may be, my favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my dad and getting that first authentic look at my husband-to-be!" she says. "It was a transcendent moment because here was my all-time hero in life proudly handing me off to someone that I knew would always respect me and continue to challenge me."

Besides that, the wedding wardrobe — all designed by Paige — was the most important part of the planning process. "I not only concentrated on my personal style/presentation for the entire weekend, but I also wanted to design the gowns for my bridesmaids, a few of my close friends, the flower girl, my matron of honor, and my mom," she recalls. "It was an HP-wedding-wardrobe-takeover and everyone had to be on point!"

As for designing her dresses — first a traditional long-sleeve flower-embroidered look fit for a princess, second a jewel-encrusted crop top and flouncy tiered skirt, and third a shimmering embroidered sheath — that was a bit more difficult than you'd imagine for a bridal designer. "Getting to design my own wedding dresses kind of felt like the tooth fairy losing a tooth at first," she explains. "But once I got going on the patterns and embroidery work, it felt like another exciting collection. There of course were moments when I was like 'Um, can I pull this off?' But I had loads of fun with it and found meaning with each piece... The challenge I have now is making these gowns accessible to other brides because I am incorporating each gown into my upcoming collection #spoileralert!"
