Gladiator Sandals for Your Honeymoon

Gladiator sandals are a summer staple, but are they worth the precious packing space in your honeymoon luggage? Bloomingdale's Accessories Director Erica Russo says yes — and we agree. "Gladiators can be worn in so many different ways, they allow for a variety of achievable looks with one pair of shoes," Russo says. The most flattering shade? "You can't go wrong with the classic camel or tan colored leather," she adds. A pair of shoes that goes with everything in your suitcase? Challenge, (happily) accepted.

1. Tye it Up
For a sexy knee-high bohemian look, simply criss-cross the straps in a X shape. But for a more sturdy tie, loop them as you cross them to interlock the straps. Tie them fully around the ankle multiple times for a casual look. "Sparta" sandal, $498, Stuart Weitzman

2. Go Casual
Chose a pair you can wrap around your ankle and pair them with denim cut-offs, an off-the-shoulder top, wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses for laid-back style, says Russo. "Amy" leather sandals, $495, Isabal Marant Étoile available at Barneys

3. Beach-to-Sunset Drinks
"The versatility of the sandal makes it a great day to night option," says Russo. A lightweight maxi dress in a poppy color is the perfect partner: Slip it on over your bikini for beach lounging, and then take it to the terrace for sunset cocktails. For a variety of colors and the perfect fit, create a custom style made before your very eyes at Bloomingdales NYC flagship store. 4. Be Bold
Be dramatic and lace them up to the calf for an nighttime look that slays. "They look great with a shorter silk dress in a great vibrant color and a bold pair of gold earrings," says Russo. "Thebes" gladiator lace-up leather sandals, $278, Ancient Greek Sandals available at Matches Fashion

5. Add a Bow
If the rest of your look is busy, a knot might be best. Add a bow for a sweet finish. "Innamorati" suede heart gladiators, $275, Cornetti available at Revolve Clothing
