WATCH: Ellen DeGeneres Dedicates Her Teen Choice Award to Wife Portia de Rossi

Celebrity, Gay Marriage

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi had a lot to celebrate last night! Not only did it mark their seventh anniversary, but they got to mark the occasion with a win at the Teen Choice Awards. DeGeneres won the Choice Comedian award at the show, and her acceptance speech was practically enough to garner her a second prize.

The talk show host gave her Scandal star wife a kiss before going up to the stage to collect her trophy, a surfboard, and make a speech that she dedicated to her.

"What an amazing day this is. This is my seven-year wedding anniversary, so happy anniversary," she smiled in de Rossi's direction. "It's yours, too."

As if that wasn't enough to melt your heart, she went on to give a powerful message to teens everywhere. "It feels good to be chosen, but there was a time in my life where I was not chosen," she said. "I was the opposite of chosen because I was different."

She continued: "I think I want to make sure that everyone knows that what makes you different right now makes you stand out later in life. You should be proud of being different. You should be proud of who you are."

Not tearing up yet? How about this: After she finished her emotional speech, de Rossi was there to grab her hand and lead her back to her seat in the audience. Perhaps her emotions were heightened because the evening had a little extra personal meaning for the couple — they first met backstage at an awards show in 2004. Regardless, it's going to be tough for them to top this next year!
