It's your last day as a single girl! Well, not really, but you're still planning a big bash — and these are some of our favorite local places to host that fabulous bachelorette party.
The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa
Lake Geneva has long been a playground for Chicago's elite, starting with names like the Wrigleys and Maytags in the early 1900s. The gorgeous summer homes and crystal-clear waters will have you understanding why it's commonly referred to as the Hamptons of the Midwest and perfect for a getaway with the girls. We love the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa because it's a short distance from the center of town and home to a full-service wellness spa, as well as fitness center with tennis courts, workout classes and a 35-foot rock climbing wall, so you can enjoy some R&R while sticking to your pre-wedding workout regimen. Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club
Dining at the Kit Kat Lounge is never boring, that's for sure. Sing along as the cast of divas performs tableside, keeping your guests singing — and laughing — along. The build-your-own bloody mary and mimosa bar at brunch is a perfect start to the day and sure to loosen up any particularly reserved bridesmaids.
It would take an entire website to name all the fabulous places in Chicago for a cocktail, but you can't just go any old place for your bachelorette party. Step it up a notch and make reservations at Aviary. Helmed by Grant Achatz, who also runs Alinea and Next and is considered one of the top chefs in the world, Aviary treats cocktails like a fine dining restaurant treats cuisine — with great care and the finesse of an artist. No, they are not going to make your high school friend her favorite watermelon martini, but if you give in to the experience and let the knowledgeable staff guide you through the molecular gastronomy menu, this is the ultimate spot for cocktails with the girls.
Why should the boys get to all have all the fun? Sometimes there's nothing better to break the ice than a little physical activity and friendly competition. Plus, the concept of whirlyball — a cross between hockey, lacrosse and basketball while riding in bumper cars — is so ridiculous that you can't help but laugh. A morning on the court will have everyone ready to party into the evening.
Kohler Waters Spa
There's spa day, and then there's a spa weekend. Embark on a short road trip with the girls and head to The American Club in Kohler, WI, which includes a full-service, five-star spa for facial and body treatments, specializing in therapeutic water treatments — it is Kohler, after all. We recommend booking a room at the Carriage House, which is the same building that houses the spa, meaning your plush robe is acceptable attire the entire weekend unless you decide to head to the hotel's four-star restaurant for dinner. Having to pack your bag and leave will be the only downside to the weekend, we promise. Read real brides' reviews here!
