Forget everything you thought you knew about oil. "The oils of today are not like the ones of yesterday. That's a stigma you have to get over," says New York dermatologist Jeanette Graf. Modern formulas are lightweight, absorbent, and help to eradicate everything from dry skin to acne (yes, even acne!) Here, Graf tells us the best oils for every skin-care concern.

If you have acne...
"Oils like tea tree, grape seed, and East Indian sandalwood have antibacterial properties that are beneficial for acne-prone skin," Graf says. Try Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil — a blend of grape seed oil, omega-rich seabuckthorn oil, and restoring sweet almond oil. ($50, available at Sephora)

If you have dry skin...
Look for coconut, olive, jojoba, and rose oils — they act as a sealant to prevent moisture loss. Clinique's Turnaround Revitalizing Treatment Oil contains olive oil plus lady thistle and cranberry seed oils, which are chock-full of antioxidants. ($38, available at Clinique)

If you have a red, blotchy complexion...
"Lavender, chamomile, argan, and borage seed oils decrease inflammation and soothe redness," Graf says. Infused with both chamomile and lavender oils, Darphin Chamomile Aromatic Care packs a punch. ($70, available at Darphin)

If you're starting to get wrinkles...
"Argan and African Marula oils have antioxidant properties that fight aging," Graf says. You can also look for oils rich in omega-6 fatty acids, like evening primrose oil — they also seal in moisture to prevent fine lines. L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renewal Facial Oil contains argan and evening primrose oils, plus Lipo Hydroxy Acid, which increases skin turnover to help you attain that coveted glow. ($20, available at Target)
