This Bride's 89-Year-Old Grandma Was a Bridesmaid in Her Wedding

Bride Christine Quinn is so close with her 89-year-old grandma, that she decided to buck tradition and invite her to be a bridesmaid. After all, Quinn considers her nana to be one of her best friends, so why shouldn't she have one of her dearest companions stand next to her as she says "I do?" The results, as you can imagine, are super-sweet tidbits from the big day and a few hilarious photos. It turns out that according to Quinn, Nana Betty was the life of the party!

"She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day," Quinn told the Huffington Post. "Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of 'going home to rest' but did not tell my mom (her daughter). She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband's grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing."

When Quinn asked Nana Betty, though, she wasn't sure she'd say yes. In fact, she had to double-check with her multiple times. "She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Quinn said. "A few times she even said 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?' Obviously Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!"

"You're only as old as you feel and I feel young today," the bride recalled Nana Betty saying on the wedding day, to which she wore a smoky plum tulle convertible gown, just like the rest of the wedding party.

"While she doesn't live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible," the bride explained of her relationship about her grandma. "She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her."
