When Robert Zdaniewicz first met Kelli Kunes, it was love at first sight. In April 2011, Bobby found himself taken aback by the beautiful brunette working in the car dealership where he had just bought a new truck. After their first introduction, Bobby and Kelli were inseparable. Just two years later, the pair was in Door Country, Wisconsin celebration Bobby's 30th birthday when he popped the question. "I wanted to make it really special for his 30th birthday. What I didn't realize was that he had something even more special for me planned," Kelli says.
The couple decided on a September 6, 2014 wedding at the Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin. They worked with Becky Dreyer from Something Blue Lake Geneva to plan a romantic, waterfront wedding and Kristina Lorraine Photography captured every moment of their classic outdoor bash!
Kelli had been eyeing her Hayley Paige gown throughout her engagement, but didn't try on the strapless silk and tulle style since she had already purchased a wedding dress. "After giving up on the first dress, I went to Chicago and saw it in person," she remembers. "The second I put it on I knew it that was it. It was light and romantic and the texture was amazing." As a plus, she knew Bobby would love it, too. He had pointed it out in a magazine but had no idea Kelli purchased it until their wedding day!
She kept her hair in soft curls and added a veil from Rivini with horsehair trim reminiscent of the details on her wedding dress. Kelli wanted a loose, asymmetrical bouquet that felt lush and eclectic. Her florist put together a textured arrangement of English garden roses, freesia, ranunculus, peonies, jasmine vine, and seeded eucalyptus.
Kelli's eight bridesmaids wore mismatched gowns in the same dove grey tone. Their bouquets matched the bride's, but incorporated brighter pops of pink.
Bobby and his groomsmen all wore slim fit Vera Wang tuxes and accessorized with blush rose boutonnieres that were wrapped with denim.
Kelli arrived at her lakefront ceremony with her father in a vintage car. "We really wanted to have an outside ceremony looking over the lake," the bride says. "It was really the backdrop of the wedding." Their stunning space was further dressed up with floral arrangements and a petal-strewn aisle. The couple exchanged vows in front of an antique trellis draped with a floral garland.
The reception was held in a sailcloth tent, decorated with café lighting and reclaimed wood farm tables. To find their seats, guests located their names on tags that were pinned to a framed corkboard. Inside the tent, soft-hued centerpieces of dahlias, garden roses, and greenery were arranged in both high and low vessels.
Kelli and Bobby gave out tulip bulbs as their favor. A sign read, "Thank you for being part of our special day. Please take a tulip bulb to plant this fall and as they bloom, think of us next spring."
Following a dinner of filet mignon and herbed chicken, the couple cut into their three-tiered cake from Cakes by Anne. They also offered an inventive "Below Freezing Bar," where mixologists used liquid nitrogen to create ice cream from alcohol! Flavors included RumChata and chocolate tequila.
