Go dress shopping alone.
"I went a couple of times solo and was able to choose for myself, not other people's opinions. I narrowed it down to my Vera Wang because I felt beautiful in it and my husband had hinted that he loved me in strapless dresses. I added a black sash and black heels to give it a bit of edge."
Make sure you feel amazing in it.
"My bridal look felt like me because I felt great in the dress. I am a huge advocate of feeling great in something. In fact, that's the entire backstory behind the name of my blog, Damsel in Dior. It's not about the brand Dior, it's about feeling like you are always in something fabulous that makes you feel incredible. I won't wear something that I don't feel both comfortable and fabulous wearing.
Make it personal.
"My 'something borrowed' was a vintage, over-100-years-old handkerchief that I carried with me on my wedding day. It was my great-great-grandmother's and it was by far my favorite accessory. The more personal you can make the day, the dress and your accessories, the more these tokens will keep you in tune with being present during the most special day of your life."
Seriously consider a second look.
"I wouldn't change anything about my bridal look, but, looking back, I would have liked to have another dress handy for after hours. Our family and friends love to dance, so when the clock struck past midnight, it would have been nice to switch into a cocktail number."
