Unless you're a Game of Thrones character, chances are you're not rocking a glittering hair accessory on a regular basis. But this is your wedding, so why not seize the day? Whether glinting off a classic chignon or peeking out from a half-up-half-down 'do, "a great accessory adds the 'wow' factor to any hairstyle," says Matt Fugate, a hairstylist in New York City. "It's like an exclamation point for your look."

Step one: Find an accessory you love, like the glittering pieces featured above. Step two: Keep it in place all night long. Here's how:

Avoid too-tight hair and tons of product.
Opt for a softer, undone feeling. "An accessory with shellacked hair looks too princess-prom," says Fugate. And remember to add your accessories after using hairspray, as the product can dull your sparkling statement pieces' shine.

Get creative with placement.
"Put the accessory on asymmetrically to get a good view of it in pictures taken from that side," says Fugate. Try clipping barrettes along the side of a chignon, weaving a flexible headband through a low side bun, or using a jeweled comb to hold back one half of a down 'do.

Think decorative, not functional.
Use pins and elastics to create your style, then put the accessory on at the end, says Fugate. "You should be able to remove it and not have your style be compromised." Worried about it falling out? Ask your stylist to sew it in with thread that matches your hair.

Test it out at your trial.
"Lean your head side to side, move around, and do a dip," says Fugate. "The last thing you want during your first dance is to have your tiara hit the floor."
