The bride is always right, according to bridezilla credo at least, but what happens when the mother of the bride wants to sport an outdated, beehive-like 'do for her big day? Our etiquette experts weigh in on exactly how to handle a mom whose wedding hairstyle isn't quite up to snuff.

Despite your best intentions, your mom won't likely react well if you flat-out tell her you hate her look. After all, your mom deserves a special day too! If you truly dislike her hairstyle of choice, make sure to address the situation with a complimentary attitude, and be prepared for the possibility that you may not be able to sway her into another look. If your mom really is committed to her look of choice, allow her to enjoy it without intervening. A happy mother of the bride who feels confident in her appearance will make the wedding day that much better, even if it's not the 'do you initially envisioned for her.

However, if you feel your mom is wavering about her style and requires some gentle guidance, you might be able to steer her towards a modernized 'do. Do a bit of research and try to find photos of noted celebrities sporting similar coiffs with an updated twist. If she can envision the style you would like her to adopt, and the look does not diverge drastically from her own suggestion, you may find you can compromise after all.
