Thanks to social media, there are about a million and one ways to announce that your guy popped the question and you said yes. But not all engagement announcements are created equal — and some can be downright annoying. So before you hit "post" on a mushy-gushy Facebook status update, read the four worst ways you could possibly announce your engagement and make sure you're not about to make one of these missteps.
1. Sending out a cryptic "He just made me the happiest woman in the world!" mass text or social-media status.
Not only does this sentence seem attention-seeking, begging for clarification, but it misses the whole point — actually announcing what happened!

2. Riffing off "Single Ladies" lyrics.
All hail Queen Bey! But riffing off Beyoncé's catchy song by stealing words from its chorus, announcing, "He liked it — so he put a ring on it!" is corny, not cool.
3. Putting up an announcement on social media before you've told your family and friends.
We live in a world where we reach for our phones the second we have news. But rather than place a personal phone call, we turn to an app, snapping a photo or firing off a quick post to tell the world. Don't cheat your family and friends of hearing the joy in your voice — or seeing it on your face — by only making an announcement online.
4. Caring more about your ring than your engagement.
It's totally normal to want to show off your new and beautiful bling. After all, your guy put a lot of effort into picking the perfect diamond. But your announcement should focus on the moment and your joy — not telling the world your ring's carat size.
