WATCH: This Guy Proposed to His High School Sweetheart on Her Last Day of Chemo

You're going to want to grab a box of tissues for this one! Lucas D'Onofrio decided to propose to his high school sweetheart on the day of her last chemotherapy session. Just a few months prior, Tamara Bruzzo was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and endured a rough six-session course of chemotherapy. Lucas wanted his love to not only celebrate her new found health, but the future that they are going to embark on together!

The proposal, in short, was epic. With the help of the hospital's nurses, family, and friends, Lucas decked out the room in candles, rose petals, and heart-shaped balloons. He even had a bouquet of roses on hand for her arrival. To set the mood, he blasted Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" throughout the room and nervously awaited his future fianc&#@33;s arrival.

So how did he prepare the hospital room so suavely? Tamara had decorated her room for a party the second she walked out of her last chemo session, but someone distracted her outside of her room and Lucas, her family, his family, nurses and friends scrambled to get everything together.

"In those 20 minutes everyone in her room, about 30 of us, all frantically removed the Hollywood decorations and put in the balloons, set up the candles on the floor and put a pathway of red petals that led up to where I would be," Lucas told Buzzfeed.

Once he emotionally popped the question, fireworks set off in the distance! "I wanted it to be a symbol or closing the chapter of cancer in her life and opening a new chapter with our lives together," Lucas said of his masterful planning skills. "I called the nurses to see if they could help me out and keep it a secret because I was going to propose to her."

Even more good news: It looks like Tamara is on the road to recovery. "We are sure this is her last chemo, her mass went down in size by 70 percent after her second chemo session," Lucas added.

What a joyful beginning to what we're sure will be a long and healthy marriage.
