Bold pink lips can work for your wedding day — as long as you choose the right shade. The key, says makeup artist Quinn Murphy, is finding a shade that works with both your complexion and your hair color. Here, his picks for every bride.

If you have light hair and fair skin...
Go all-out with shocking pink. It looks dramatic against light skin and will even make your hair look brighter. Murphy loves Nars Semi-Matte lipstick in Schiap ($27, available at Nars).

If you have dark hair and fair skin...
You have a lot of contrast between your skin and hair, Murphy says, which means you can pull off a blue-based pink. Try a richly pigmented fuschia, like YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Le Fuschia ($26, available at Sephora) — it will look amazing with a subtle smoky eye.

If you're a redhead...
Go for a fiery, orange-based pink. Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in 37 ($20, available at Sephora) is warm and bold.

If you have light hair and medium skin...
Look for a guava-colored lipstick — it's brighter than peach, but not as orange-y as coral. We like Too Faced La Crème in Juicy Melons ($22, available at Sephora).

If you have dark hair and medium skin...
Try a rosy medium pink. Murphy loves Nars' Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Mexican Rose ($26, available at Nars). Bonus: It lasts all night!

If you have any color hair and dark skin...
Go for a bright berry! Murphy likes L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in Enduring Berry ($10, available at Ulta).
