Alanna and Aaron kept their relationship platonic at first, meeting through a mutual friend in July of 2003 but becoming a couple just six months later. In May of 2011, Aaron surprised Alanna with a proposal on top of the Space Needle in Seattle — with a photographer on-hand to capture it all!
The couple decided to keep their October 5, 2013 wedding small, inviting only 42 guests to join them at Mansion Hill Inn in Madison, Wisconsin. They kept the celebration low-key, decorating the space with fall-appropriate hues and serving local produce for dinner. "It was a challenge to keep the guest list small," says Alanna. "But knowing that Aaron was the person I was meant to marry? That was easy!"

The bride kept her look simple, donning a lace A-Line gown that she accented with a floral belt for the ceremony. Her something blue? Kate Spade pumps with a glittering heel.
Alanna's bouquet combined roses, lisianthus, dusty miller, and vines with soft touches of blue.
The couple exchanged vows in the inn's parlor, in front of an alcove with vibrant stained glass windows.
Guests passed around Aaron and Alanna's wedding bands to warm them before they were exchanged, then waved ribbon wands to celebrate the "I do's."
"We exchanged the same wedding vows that my parents used," says the bride.
Tables were topped with brown linens and orange napkins, accented with vibrant pink dahlia and cabbage centerpieces.
For dessert, Alanna and Aaron cut into a rustically-frosted cake, and also served up carrot cake, salted chocolate caramel, almond berry, and lemon raspberry cupcakes.
"Our wedding day was so emotional," says Alanna. "I cried during our first look, and Aaron cried when I walked down the aisle." Her advice for brides? "Don't stress! And keep things simple. It's all about marrying the person you're meant to be with."
