Nina Dobrev isn't letting her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder's April 26 wedding to Nikki Reed get her down! The Vampire Diaries costars ended their relationship in 2013 after three years of dating, stating that they'd remain "best friends." Lots of Hollywood couples say they'll remain close after they break up, but it seems like Dobrev and Somerhalder really meant it. In fact, there are so few hard feelings that Dobrev just wished her ex and his new wife happiness in their marriage.
"I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," Dobrev told Maria Menounos on E! News in an interview yesterday when asked about her thoughts on his recent nuptials. "I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
Though she didn't attend their big day — sources say she considered RSVPing yes to her invitation, but reconsidered when she thought through her emotions — that decision wasn't made out of spite. "When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful," she added. "They look happy and I am happy, and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that...Of course, we're on a teen drama show, everyone's going to look for drama...I just ignore it."
Let this be a lesson to all exes!
