How To Create Undone Bun Wedding Hairstyle

Cool, carefree, and super chic, the undone bun is fast becoming one of the most popular bridal hairstyles. (The models rocked the look at Naeem Khan's Spring 2016 bridal runway show!) It's also super simple to create! We asked Matt Fugate, a hairstylist at Sally Hershberger Downtown in New York City, to tell us how its done.

1. Pull your hair into a ponytail.
Then secure it with an elastic. Fugate likes Blax Snag-Free Hair Elastics ($4, available at Beautyhabit). Placement is totally up to you, but keep in mind, a high ponytail shows off your cheekbones, while a low ponytail accentuates your side-profile and collarbones.

2. Braid the hair in the tail.
Secure it with a clear elastic.

3. Rough it up.
Spritz the hair with a working hairspray, like L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray ($15, available at Loréal Paris), to add texture. (If you have fine hair, use a dry shampoo instead, which will add thickness in addition to texture. We like Dove Refresh and Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo ($6, available at Drugstore.com) Then, rub the braid between your palms and gently tug it apart slightly to create an airy, lived-in effect.

4. Twist it.
Wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail, and secure it with bobby pins. Note: Once your hair is wrapped up, it won't really look braided anymore — more like a pretty, casual texture.

5. Mist on a shine spray.
"It's the perfect finishing touch that will catch the camera flash," says Fugate. Try Sally Hershberger Smooth Fix ($24, available at Sally Hershberger).
