First Look at Theia's Spring 2016 Bridal Runway Show

Wedding Dresses

For Theia's Spring 2016 runway show, Creative Director Don O'Neill delivered on his promise: The collection was absolutely magical. Inspired by the Art Nouveau illustrations by Danish artist Kay Rasmus Neilsen, the whole line channeled the whimsical and the fantastical. The two dimensional drawings by a Victoria era-born talent came to life in the dress's three-dimensional embellishments. The silhouettes were equally delightful, falling into two different camps: the breezy and the body-skimming mermaids, which hit the models in all of the right places.

One embellishment we saw across a few designs were 3D butterflies, which called to mind an enchanted forest. These Old Time-y elements, though, were offset by the creation's inherently modern silhoeuttes. Our favorite, a colorful bundle of butterflies, rest on top of a structured strapless crop top and its matching tulle A-line skirt. Speaking of crop tops, there was another in the range with a laser-etched satin ball gown skirt and a Chantilly-lace top.

When the pieces weren't structured or heavily embellished, they were free-flowing. Silk chiffon floated down the runway as light-as-air trains trailed behind. One particular number even featured Neilsen's prints delicate pasted onto the hemline, while a jewel-crusted bra top and silk pant were topped off by an incredible billowy cape. Even more whimsical? Whisper lace on one of the finale dresses, which looked as if it was spun by spiders.
