BRIDES Stands Up for Worldwide Gender Equality with The Clinton Foundation's Not There Campaign

If you've been to our homepage or visited any of our social media accounts today, you've probably noticed something about our April/May 2015 issue: cover model Britt Maren is missing. Instead of Maren clad in a wedding dress you'll find a simple, distinctive URL in her place: As part of The Clinton Foundation's No Ceilings initiative, we have removed our female cover model to raise awareness that we are "not there" yet in terms of gender equality.

Published by Condé Nast, BRIDES, along with the company's other brands including Vogue, Glamour, SELF, Allure, Teen Vogue and W, are taking part of the initiative. Celebrities like Amy Peohler, Cameron Diaz and Sienna Miller, social communities, fashion labels, and other leading consumer brands are also helping to create a dialogue about worldwide gender inequality today, which happens to be International Women's Day, by participating in the No Ceilings campaign.

"I think sometimes the media gives the false impression, through its visual imagery, that women are treated equally in the global conversation. It is important for us to correct that impression, even symbolically on March 8, to move the conversation forward and create real change," said Anna Wintour, Artistic Director of Condé Nast and Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.

The Clinton Foundation, which is led by Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, was created to advance and inspire the full participation of women and girls around the world. "We are taking a collective stand that full participation for women and girls anywhere and everywhere remains the unfinished business of the 21st century," said Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton. "By knowing the facts and what has worked and hasn't worked to advance gender equality, we can accelerate the pace of change for women and girls — both at home and around the world."

In collaboration with the Gates Foundation, the Clinton Foundation collected data on the status of women, girls, and gender equality since 1995 and will be presenting their Full Participation Report at the 59th session of the United Nation's Commission on the Status of Women in New York City on Monday.
