Though Bayley Overland and Craig Staley started working together in March of 2010, it wasn't until October of 2011 that he finally asked her out. "He wanted to know if I was 'cool' outside of the office, so he arranged a happy hour at a local pub so that we could hang out in a non-work setting," Bayley remembers. "He asked me out that night, and we've been together ever since. I must have been cool enough!" A little over a year later, Craig proposed a few days before Christmas as the couple opened gifts by their Christmas tree. "It was the perfect simple, private proposal I'd always wanted, and then we got to celebrate with our families over the holidays," says Bayley.

The pair spent the next 10 months planning their October 18th, 2013 wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado. "The first trip we took together was to San Diego, and that's where we stayed," Bayley remembers. "It's always held a special place in our hearts, and it was just the place for our historically-inspired wedding."

Navy, white and gold invitations introduced guests to the evening's color scheme. Cute signs (check out that bowtie!) were ready for the photo booth at the reception.

Bride in a Lace Monique Lhuillier Gown Garden Rose and Ranunculus Bouquet

Bayley stunned in a Monique Lhuillier gown with a sheer lace back. "It was so comfortable — it was like wearing a nightie!" she says. The only downside to picking her dress? "I loved trying them on, so I was sort of bummed to stop." She paired her gown with a lush bouquet of garden roses, ranunculus, lilies, and lots of greenery.

Bayley and Craig each had one attendant, so she tapped her cousin for the maid of honor spot. They found an emerald green lace dress by CH Carolina Herrera, which was perfectly paired with a peach-and-blush bouquet.

The ring bearers looked sweetly handsome in gingham shirts, blue bow ties and suspenders. The three flower girls wore jersey dresses with ruffled hems, and topped off their look with floral crowns.

Wedding Ceremony on the Beach in California

The ceremony took place barefoot on the beach, with guests seated in white folding chairs. "My favorite detail was the two old church pews we put in the last two rows," Bayley says. They draped the pews with greenery and white roses.

Since the couple got married 1500 miles away from their home, they brought a personal touch with them by having a friend, who is a motivational speaker, perform the ceremony. "My favorite part of the whole day was Craig's face as I came down the aisle," says Bayley. "I'll remember it forever."

After the bride and groom said "I do," guests sipped cocktails on the beach while a man built a castle in the sand, customized with the couple's monogram.

Navy and White Vintage Escort Cards Wedding Reception at Hotel del Coronado

Inside the Hotel del Coronado's Crown Room, guests found their seats on navy and gold escort cards decorated with vintage-inspired graphics. Everyone was seated at long tables topped with striped linens and lush flowers. "We loved the chandeliers (designed by L. Frank Baum!), and Craig couldn't get enough of how the wooden ceiling was constructed with just pegs and glue — no nails!"

Tables were topped with centerpieces in a mix of glass and metal vessels, overflowing with white and pink garden roses and lots of greenery. Table numbers were printed in gold on navy and white floral paper.

Ladies-and-Gents cocktails included a St. Germaine and champagne cocktail for her and an Old Fashioned for him. The bride and the wedding planner created a whiskey bar at the reception, complete with leather seating and antique décor, to honor the groom's love of all thinks whiskey, bourbon, and scotch.

"Craig and I don't love cake, so we served a whole selection of our favorite desserts," says Bayley. They cut into a two-tiered banana cake, and also served macarons, bourbon pecan bars, banana pudding trifles, and molasses cookies.

Mini Pie Favors

After a night of dancing (and more than a few sing-alongs with the bride), guests headed home with miniature pies as a sweet midnight snack. The bride and groom jetted off to Hawaii for two weeks for their honeymoon.

Bayley's advice is to be inspired by trends, but not adhere to them too strictly. "We made it our own, so we were able to include some ideas we loved but still make the wedding really personal."
