An Effortlessly Beautiful Destination Wedding in Provence

Lilian Queiroz, 27, first met Mathias Youbi, 35, when they were seated across from each other at an intimate dinner. "I couldn't stop staring at him," Lilian says. "My friend and I went to the bathroom and, when we returned, he had moved into the seat next to me!"

The couple started dating two months later, and, on August 3, 2013, Mathias popped the question while on vacation in Miami. On August 9, 2014, a year (almost to the day!) after Lilian said yes, she and Mathias invited 250 guests to Saint Rémy de Provence for a traditional church ceremony and an after party at an authentic French chateau.

Lilian, a model, is used to trying on beautiful dresses, but when she slipped on her beaded Pronovias gown, she knew it was the one. "A friend told me to choose the dress like I was dressing to meet my husband for the very first time," she says. "The moment I put it on, I just knew."

The bride paired her long-sleeved sweetheart gown with stud earrings and a silver-and-turquoise necklace, both purchased from H. Stern. She carried a tight bouquet of white hydrangeas surrounded by white and pink roses.

Thanks to the sexy, knee-high slit in her sparkly dress, Lilian was able to show off her bridal shoes, white t-strap pumps by René Caovilla.

To complement his bride's classic look, Mathias sported a black Kiton tuxedo and Berluti dress shoes.

Lilian credits the ease of wedding planning to her groom. "He was so helpful during the whole process," she says. "And, in the end, the only thing that matters is the wedding vows."

Lilian and Mathias exchanged traditional vows at the Church of Saint Martin, where they kept the décor simple to accent the already beautiful space. The long aisle was lined with votive-filled lanterns and a bouquet of pink roses and baby's breath was tied to each pew.

To incorporate their two cultures (the bride is Brazilian and the groom is French), the couple had a Brazilian priest perform the ceremony, half in Portuguese and half in French.

A harpist and violinist played during the ceremony as six flower girls and Lilian's godson walked down the aisle before the bride.

After the vows, guests (including Lilian's flower girls in flower crowns and bridesmaids in peach chiffon dresses by J. Crew) tossed petals and rice over the newlyweds as they exited the church.

The group headed to Chateau d'Estoublon, nestled on a nearby vineyard, for a seated dinner on the patio.

Escort cards were tied to a weathered easel decorated with a wooden heart, white and red roses, greenery, and baby's breath.

Lilian and Mathias embraced the venue's natural beauty by placing an orange tree in the middle of the patio and covering the white tablecloths with low arrangements of succulents, tea roses, and moss.

The napkin at each place setting was tied with raffia and accented with a bundle of olive leaves from trees on the property.

Thanks to caterer Marrou Traiteur, the group feasted on daurade à la provencale, veal filet mignon with rosemary potato grain, and charcuterie and cheese from Corisca.

An oversized bottle of rosé, the couple's signature drink, doubled as a guest book.

To liven things up at the reception, Mathias surprised Lilian with a 10-piece band. "He arranged for them to hide until after the first dance," says Lilian. "Then they marched in with guitars and started playing gipsy songs, Mathias' favorite!"

After planning a wedding from across the Atlantic Ocean, Lilian has this day-of advice for future brides: "In all the madness, don't forget to enjoy yourself, your new husband, and your guests."
