A Last-Minute DIY Valentine's Day Gift Your Fiancé (or Bridesmaids!) Will Love

Wedding Style & Decor

Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and if you're like a lot of brides, you're scrambling to think of a present for your fiancé — after all, wedding planning is time-consuming enough as it is! We asked Kelly Mindell, founder and editor of crafting Studio DIY, to share a gift that ladies can whip up in no time to give to all of their loved ones. To our delight, she dreamed up balloon message project that works as both a present and a way to ask your girlfriends to be your bridesmaids.

For your crafting and gifting ease, Mindell provided all of the items and instructions you'll need to make this interactive present, as well as special messages you can include for either your husband-to-be or your bridesmaids-to-be!

What you need:
• Mini heart balloons (You can use standard size heart balloons, too!)
• A Balloon Time helium tank
• White computer paper and/or cardstock pen
• Confetti
• A box
• Washi tape
• Optional: Glitter letters, candy or other goodies to include

Cut tiny strips of computer paper and write your messages on them, they could be little quotes, song lyrics or a cute phrase for asking your bridesmaids to stand by your side! Set them aside while you prep the rest of the surprise box. If you're using mini heart balloons, you'll only use one message per balloon (Because the balloons are tiny, they can't hold much weight!). Roll up your message and stuff it into the balloon along with a sprinkle of confetti.

Use glitter letters, or a pen, and write "POP!" (or another message) on cardstock and tape that to the lid of the box using washi tape. On top of that, tape your pin. At a loss for message ideas? How about these:

For bridesmaids:
• He popped the question, now it's my turn. Will you be my bridesmaid?
• Will you stand up with me as I tie the knot?
• Will you be my... Bridesmaid?

For fiancés:
• You popped the question, now it's my turn! Will you be my Valentine?
• You make my heart burst!

Soon before you're ready to give the gift, inflate your balloon with helium and tie it with a string. Tape the end of the string to the bottom of your box and fill the box with confetti, mylar or tissue paper, leaving enough room for the balloon. Stuff the balloon into the box and close it up with the lid. Now it's time to deliver!
