A Chic Destination Wedding in Palm Beach, Florida

Florida, Real Weddings

Caroline Dashiell, 26, and Rascoe Dean, 27, saw each other around campus at their small college in Tennessee, but didn't officially meet until a mutual friend finally introduced them in December of 2012. The meeting stuck and a short six months later, Rascoe popped the question on a hiking trip in the Smoky Mountains. "I had planned this entire surprise weekend for his birthday, then he out-surprised me with a proposal," Caroline says. "I couldn't compete with that!'

Though Caroline and Rascoe both love Tennessee (they met at Sewanee: The University of the South and live in Nashville), they planned a destination wedding in Palm Beach, Florida. "My parents live there, so we decided to turn the wedding into a mini-vacation for our guests," says the bride.

Caroline wanted to dress shop with an entourage, so she asked her mom, grandmother, and three friends to tag along. After trying on a variety of styles, Caroline picked her strapless Vera Wang with the group's unanimous approval. "I fell in love with its simplicity and architectural details," she says. "And the amazing bow in the back, of course!"

The groom sported a classic black tux from Brooks Brothers, topping his lapel with a single white peony boutonniere.

Caroline accessorized her look with a simple veil and added a pop of color with light pink Christian Louboutin pumps. For jewels, she wore diamond earrings with a pearl drop and a sapphire and diamond ring (a gift from Rascoe that served as both her "something blue" and "something new"!).

Oversized white peonies made the bridal bouquet a stunner, and Caroline attached her grandfather's pin to the stem as her "something old."

To make her three maids of honor stand out, Caroline had them wear champagne Joanna August dresses with a ruffled neckline. The other bridesmaids wore the same hue in a style with a capped sleeve, and all the women carried bouquets of long-stemmed white tulips tied together with white ribbon.

Caroline and Rascoe exchanged traditional vows in front of 250 guests at Royal Ponciana Chapel. The couple worked with florist Xquisite Events to accent the grand organ behind the altar with standing candelabras and urns filled with white peonies that matched the bridal bouquet.

Two large arrangements framed the French doors outside the church. After the ceremony, Caroline and Rascoe drove to the reception venue in an antique white car.

Cocktail hour took place in the sun on the steps of the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum.

Guests sipped on brews from a craft beer bar and savored the couple's signature whisky cocktail, named "Riley's Rosemary Rye" after their yellow lab.

Mirrored tabletops and vases added a modern feel to the reception tables, which were decorated with low green-and-white flower arrangements and floating votive candles in square vases. Above the sweetheart table, a tall acrylic canopy was covered in white hydrangeas, allowing orchids and glass orbs to hang below.

Glass chargers, green stemware, and linen napkins with the couple's combined monogram completed the beautiful tabletops.

Boxwood Covered Reception Bar

During the reception, guests slipped outside for drinks by the boxwood-covered bar on the patio.

After a spread of Momofuku cornflake-marshmallow cookies, cheesecake pops, and mini key lime tarts, guests enjoyed the final dessert, a five-tiered vanilla cake made by The Sugar Monkey.

The newlyweds ended the night with a grand confetti exit before heading to Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands for their honeymoon.

After countless hours spent planning her wedding from afar, Caroline is glad that she took a few moments to take it all in. "I went into the reception room with my family before dinner," she says. "It was so special to see all my ideas come to life before the party really started."
