Along with your wedding video, your wedding photos are the only physical thing you will have to look back on your big day for years to come — so you want to make sure the photographer you hire captures your nuptials just how you envisioned. Often times, couples use their engagement-photo session as a way to test drive any potential wedding photographers. But what happens if you don't love the results? Can you change your mind and hire another person to shoot your big day? Our etiquette expert weighs in below.

Think of your engagement photos as a sneak peek to your actual wedding photos. If they didn't come out absolutely perfect, chances are you will get the same results when it comes time to see the wedding pictures. Keep in mind that capturing the perfect shot will be even harder with all your guests around.

Unless you have a contract with the photographer, it's not too late for you to change your mind and hire someone else. If you have a contract with your already-hired photographer, try talking to him or her about your engagement photos and what you want out of any future shots. Let your photographer know what you loved about the photos, in addition to what you would change. Make sure to be polite (this is the photographer's profession after all!), but honest. Hopefully, you'll be able to work together and get on the same page before you walk down the aisle.
