Brides have long favored chronological dates for their wedding, and today, 12/13/14 is no expectation. According to David's Bridal, nearly 20,000 couples are set to wed this evening, which is up from the 7,200 couples that chose the second weekend in December last year. It's no coincidence, either. For couples that love the idea of marrying on a unique and memorable wedding date, they have to tie the knot tonight or wait 20 years — the next sequential date won't happen until January 2, 2034.
Even last year's 11/12/13, which fell on a Tuesday, drew in lots of couples looking to wed on one of these chronological dates. David's Bridal estimated that 3,326 American couples would choose that date, and their calculations seemed to prove true: New York's City Hall saw their Tuesday elopements double from the past year.
While we know that plenty of couples will tie the knot on this unique day, we're also expecting creative men to pop the question tonight, too. So in honor of this romantic occasion, we're bringing you five adorable proposal stories courtesy of How He Asked.

"I looked over into a clearing a few hundred feet away and made eye contact with the most handsome man in existence, holding a huge bouquet of white flowers. And that smile. If you know Matthew you know exactly which one I'm talking about. I froze. I couldn't move. He does that to me. Finally he broke the silence by saying — 'Get over here!' So I did! Hopped the stone wall and ran into the warms of my best friend."

A Light-Filled Garden Proposal

A Dream Wedding Venue Proposal in Temecula, California
"This past weekend we went to a friend's wedding in the same area as a wedding venue I've always wanted to check out. Joe was reluctant to go but finally agreed. Half way into our tour, Joe started wandering around so I kind of followed and asked him if we could stay with the coordinator° I didn't want to be rude! He kept looking around and was really fidgety so I thought that he didn't like the venue. He lead me over to where the ceremonies take place and told me to stand at the alter with him. When I did, he turned to me and asked, "Do you want to get married here?" When I replied yes, he said and how about getting engaged here? He dropped down to his knee and pulled out the ring! I was so surprised and was not expecting it to happen here that I just started bawling in my hands."

A Flash Mob Proposal in Venice, California
"I'm wandering along the sidewalk with my mom on the way to get a message and I see a sign that says 'WILL' with about seven people wearing all black clothes and these amazing masks. There are cats, unicorns, dogs, birds all kinds of masks. I don't really think much of it being around Halloween so I continue walking... then I see a friend riding her bike in sync with my mom and I. She's playing Vance Joy's 'Riptide' from a stereo and it starts to sink in. Then comes the 'YOU' and 'MARRY' me signs with more people wearing masks. At this point I'm just so beyond excited and surprised and looking around for the 'ME' sign. Daniel was around the corner with my Dad and about 40 of my friends with the biggest smile on his face holding the last sign."
