Mother-son dance

With so much importance placed on the father-daughter dance during the wedding reception, many people forget how special the mother-son dance can be! Though there's less of a symbolic "giving away" feeling associated with the mother-son relationship when it comes to marriage, there's still a special bond deserves a spin on the dance floor. Song choice makes all the difference; though there are some overlaps with the father/-daughter music selection, there is also a host of different selections to make it a dance to remember. That's why we curated a special Spotify playlist of our favorite ones!

For starters, there are many lyrically-perfect options that have become popular over the years. Carole King's "Child of Mine," Boyz II Men's "A Song for Mama," The Intruders' "I'll Always Love My Mama," and Paul Simon's "Mother and Child Reunion" all hit the nail on the head, and are great for dancing. Other tunes have a feeling that nicely capture the connection between a groom and his mother. Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine" can convey a playful relationship, while Jason Mraz's "93 Million Miles" helps portray a deeply emotional connection. Heart-warming songs like Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" and Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" will surely be on most moms' wish lists.

It can be difficult for grooms or their mothers to find the right tune, so listen to the playlist, below, to get inspired. Who knows? You may just find your first-dance song instead!
