If you weren't an Ed Sheeran fan before, you will be after reading this story: The singer accepted a marriage proposal from a 19-year-old fan who is suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer before his concert in Glasgow, Scotland last Thursday.
The "Sing" singer met with Katie Papworth, the teen who's been battling this disease for eight years, her mom and caregiver before taking the stage. Upon meeting the star, Papworth presented him with an engagement ring, etched with an infinity symbol. According to iHeartRadio Sheeran happily accepted the token of Papworth's affection. He was so excited about the gesture that he also signed a painting she made for him before losing her eyesight just two weeks ago with the message: "Katie, lovely to finally meet my wife."
The meeting was arranged by The Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation, who was beyond grateful for Sheeran's newfound betrothal. "Huge thanks to Ed Sheeran (a real superstar) and his fantastic team who made Katie's dream come true last night and she even proposed and he kept her ring. Xx," they wrote alongside a photo of the newly-engaged pair and Papworth's family on their Facebook page. In the photo, Ed is happily holding his new piece of bling!
Not only is this beyond sweet, it goes along with the trend of heart-warming celebrity proposals lately: From Demi Lovato accepting a five-year-old's proposal at her own concert to Lady Gaga helping one man pop the question at her recent Manchester, England gig, it's clear the music industry is feeling the love lately.
