Why Fatherhood Made It Hard for Channing Tatum to Stick to His Magic Mike XXL Diet

Channing Tatum Gushes About Wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum

In our book, Channing Tatum recently won the award for best husband, and now he's taking home the prize for number one dad. Well, sort of. The Hollywood hunk may have toned up for his role in Magic Mike XXL, but his more important job as a father to 17-month-old Everly (with wife Jenna Dewan Tatum) made it fairly difficult for him.

Earlier this year, Tatum told GQ that being a father attributed to his (marginal) weight gain last summer. "I just love cake. Confetti cake, to be specific. It has little colored candies inside the cake, and then you get the confetti icing, which is really hard to find sometimes," Tatum said of his favorite child-approved confection. "It's not icing with sprinkles on top. It's icing that actually has candies inside of it."

And now, the actor is saying those same snacks that garnered praise from daughter Everly were what Tatum says made him "fat and happy" in Esquire's new December cover story. "I'm like T-minus I-don't-know-what to being naked all the time," Tatum told the magazine of his health-concious diet which consists of mainly chicken breasts. "This is really fine ... It's what I'm doing. It's what I do ... I love eating. But this is what I'm doing right now."

As for what he'll be up to next, it's anyone's guess. The actor hinted that he and his wife might be ready to expand their happy little family, especially now that she may not have as many work commitments. "I don't think very, very soon, but it really depends if Jenna's show gets picked up for a third season," Tatum said. "Then we would probably wait."
