Elizabeth Taylor was a bride eight separate times, and each trip down the aisle remains memorable for different reasons. Her two weddings to Richard Burton and her high-society nuptials to future Senator John Warner immediately come to mind, but none are quite as unique as her October 21, 1991, wedding to construction worker Larry Fortensky.

Yesterday, the 23-year anniversary of their headline-grabbing wedding, People published never-before-seen photos of the Hollywood event that sent tabloids into overdrive.

There are the details everyone knows: Taylor and Fortensky met while in rehab at the Betty Ford Center and took their seemingly unconventional romance public soon after. Their 160-guest wedding took place at Michael Jackson's famed Neverland Ranch Santa Ynez Valley, California, where about a dozen persistent helicopters took the only non-authorized photos from above.

Then there are the things we just found out: Despite a 100-guard strong security unit and a former Israeli army officer were guarding the event, a determined paparazzo parachuted into the ceremony, landing just 20 feet from the understandably shocked couple.

Unexpected guests aside, there were some major A-list attendees, including Liza Minnelli, Eddie Murphy, Nancy Reagan, Diane von Furstenberg, Arsenio Hall, George Hamilton, Merv Griffin, Quincy Jones, Macaulay Culkin, and Brooke Shields, who attended as Jackson's date.

As seen in People's exclusive photos, Taylor stunned in a gifted, pale yellow Valentino wedding dress that cost $25,000. The generosity didn't stop there — Jackson reportedly footed most of the wedding's approximately $1.5 million bill. As the photos show, Taylor was thrilled to spend her big day with her close friend.

"You've been so generous, it makes me want to cry," Taylor told Jackson. "I'll never forget it as long as I live."
