It's just a bad idea. Your better, more cost-effective bet for getting the wedding cake you actually want is to spend the money on the professional pastry chef your wedding planner or venue recommends. If you DIY the cake or cupcakes, you not only have to ship down all of the little details things you need for decorating and some ingredients, but you have to make sure your accommodations actually have an oven that keeps temperature and will fit your cake pans.
While it's possible to have your flowers shipped in from a wholesaler, what are you going to do with them? Do you have a cold room and fridge space for everything? You'll also have to bring clippers, knives, scissors, strippers, tape, wire, water tubes, ribbon, fabric scissors, flower food and buckets to put the blooms in until the big day. Don't forget about all the vases if you're doing centerpieces. And once this is all assembled, where are you storing it? Nightmare! And it's a mess wherever you're assembling the bouquets and centerpieces.
A good DJ will take the playlist you provide and execute it the way you want it done. If you insist on a specific list of songs in a specific order, he or will do it, but you will kill your party. The DJ needs to be able to judge the audience. If the dance floor is full of people boogying, that's not the time to switch to a slow ballad. You can have a "do not play" list and you can decide whether your guests may make requests — but remember that the music is often what gets the party started and keeps the party going.
While your mom's famous chocolate chip cookies sound fabulous in your welcome bags, in practicality, it's a hot mess. Literally. Chocolate melts. So do lots of other things. Likewise, hand-making edible reception favors and shipping them intact is a risky business.
