WNBA Stars Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson Are Engaged!

Celebrity, Gay Marriage

Today in heartwarming news: WNBA stars Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson are engaged! Griner, who plays for WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, popped the oh-so-important question this past weekend, and, thankfully for us, recorded it all on her Instagram.

Next to a photo of her down on knee (above) Griner wrote:

"Last Night was a Night to Remember I became the happiest person on this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for Life! "

Johnson, who plays for the Tulsa Shock, also uploaded a photo in celebration of the major milestone. Next to a picture of the engagement ring (which, by the way, looks like a halo-set, pavé studded, cushion-cut diamond) on Griner's shoulder (above) Johnson wrote: "What I get to wake up to @brittneygriner #LoveMakesYouDoTheCraziestThings"

The two are nothing short of adorable, constantly posting photos of one another with loving captions. Like this photo of the couple kissing (above) post-proposal, with the note: "I CANT DEAL WITH @brittneygriner sometimes lol"

Or this sweet snap that Griner posted days before her proposal (above) with the caption: "Ugh!!!!!!! Missing my baby! @missvol25 she came in my life and I was taken over from first sight! You are everything baby! Muah"

Griner has been a prominent public figure for the gay community, and especially for gay athletes, ever since coming out last year after a record-breaking college basketball career at Baylor. She wrote an open and honest memoir about her time as one of the world's most well-known female basketball players while also talking about coming to terms with her true self, dealing with criticism, and discussing gender, sexuality, body image and self-esteem issues.

We couldn't be happier for these two lovestruck athletes!
