Love a flower crown? You're probably a Temperley girl.
As a bridal designer with a ready-to-wear line, Alice Temperley designs for many moments in the lives of her clients. "I design for the Temperley woman, who has an independent spirit and is feminine, playful and doesn't follow trends for trends's sake," said the designer. "This is the same aesthetic I use across all my lines, and it definitely translates to the Temperley bride."

Temperley bridal is always classic, never too trendy. (Read: with Temperley, you'll never regret your bridal look in 10 years).
"The challenge when designing bridal is to always keep the collections fresh," explained the designer. "We always create classic dresses, but I want to push the boundaries of what bridal can be for the modern woman." It's about finding the right balance, said Temperley. "In terms of trends, I love separates — pairing a beautiful full-length voluminous lace skirt with classic white blouse is so romantic."

Alice Temperley began her bridal business in 2006, four years after she designed her own wedding dress.
After the designer married her husband in a 20s-themed English country bash wearing a gown of vintage lace with pearl details, requests for her bridal designs poured in. "After my wedding in 2002, I started designing bridal for several friends and existing clients who requested that I create their wedding dresses. Then, it seemed like a natural progression for us to offer a complete range, which we launched in 2006."

Her top styling tip? Be true to yourself.
"On your wedding day it's so important to be comfortable — a dress should be a second skin, and never restrictive," said the designer. "For accessories, choose pieces that you love, and will keep to wear again. And remember — so important — don't overdo it with hair and makeup. You should look like the best version of yourself on your wedding day, and the last thing you want is to scare your husband with a 'new look'!"

"We often design custom gowns for brides. I start by sketching, and then I have a consultation with the bride," explained the designer, when asked about the bridal fitting process. "She tries on a variety of our dresses and we discuss what works for her figure, and the styles she likes. Then we go from there with the designs. When designing bespoke dresses, I combine both the brides ideas with my own and make their fantasy dress a reality."
