Your honeymoon is relaxing, fun, and romantic — essentially it's the best vacation of your life, no matter where you go or how long you're gone. And yet, as with so many other elements of wedding planning, there are always special circumstances and situations to consider. I want to go to the beach, he wants to ski. What should we do?
The secret is compromise. Try to work in some of your favorite things, whichever destination you end up choosing. For example, agree that you'll ski mornings, then spend the afternoon together shopping, sightseeing, hot-tubbing, and getting to know your fireplace. Or, do a "sea and ski" honeymoon — a few days in a warm climates, the next few at a ski resort.

My fiancé wants to plan a surprise honeymoon for me, but I'm worried I won't pack the right type of things. Any ideas?
You can pack several different bags and ask him to tell you which one to take when the time comes! If you're more of a type-A personality, make sure the surprise doesn't go sour; ask him to tell you what type of destination you're heading for (tropical island, big city, mountain resort), what temperatures to pack for, and how formal or casual it is. Or have him confide in your maid of honor, who can steer you in the right direction.

We're honeymooning at my parents' Florida condo to save money. How can we make the trip feel special?
If it's not too far from home, travel by train — a romantic journey always feels fun and different. Once you arrive, indulge in an elaborate beach picnic. Fill the place with a rainbow of flowers and eat out at special places a few times. Rent a convertible. Put a "do not disturb" sign on the door.
