All newlyweds go through some kind of fear about getting married — whether it's how you'll get along with your in-laws or how you'll manage money as a couple but without a doubt, one of the most common concerns is what happens to your sex life after you tie the knot.

But you can officially stop worrying: Several studies have proved that married couples not only have sex more often, they also seem to find greater satisfaction, emotionally, and physically in their sexual life together.

In her book, "For Better, How the Surprising Science of Happy Couples Can Help Your Marriage Succeed," author Tara Parker-Pope quotes several studies that confirm that married couples are having more sex than anyone else. According to the National Opinion Research Center, married couples between the ages of 30 and 39 have sex an average of 86 times per year, while their single counterparts average 66 times a year. Younger married couples between the ages of 19 and 29 have sex on an average of 112 times a year compared to 69 times a year for unmarried couples in the same age range. The frequency of sexual encounters for married couples has been pretty consistent over several studies.

As for the quality, research from the University of Chicago suggests that marriage also increases the level of sexual satisfaction and fulfillment that couples feel. Translation: Happy couples typically have more sex and the more sex a couple has, the happier they report being.

So you can relax in knowing that the sexy-ness factor will not diminish after your honeymoon. In fact, it will only get better.
