When Sacha, a 37-year-old pharmacist, found out her fiancé Curtis would need to relocate to Seattle for a work opportunity, she realized right away she wanted to celebrate their wedding in their new home. The only catch? Their two families had never met! To bring both their families together for the first time without the distraction of hundreds of others, Sacha and Curtis chose to keep their winery wedding super-intimate. And we mean intimate—just eight people! At just one gorgeous, flower-laden table, the couple's very nearest and dearest shared delicious, inventive food and plenty of the vineyard's own wines. Sacha wore a gown from David's Bridal. "I chose it because it was classic and elegant, and it fit both my body type and my personality," she says. She paired it with a bouquet of lady's slipper and orange mokara orchids, garden roses, and peonies.
All the guys, including their dashing ring bearer, wore dark gray tuxedos. Curtis's purple vest looked perfect with their punchy palette!
At their traditional ceremony, Sacha and Curtis added a vineyard-appropriate twist: a wine unity ceremony. They sealed love letters written to each other in a personalized wine box. Neither read the letter before the box was sealed. Instead, they'll wait till their 10th wedding anniversary, when they'll drink the (by then) perfectly-aged wine and break open their letters!
Sacha wanted her wedding to have the same feel as the alfresco dining she loved when traveling in Italy. Tsillan Cellars, on Washington's gorgeous Lake Chelan, was the perfect setting for a small outdoor dinner near their new home.
No need for table numbers—the couple used just one table at their wedding! But what a table it was. They went for a color palette of bright orange, yellow, and green, filling in every inch of the table with rustic urns brimming with terracotta roses, orange mokara orchids, amaranthus and greenery. They hung a chandelier filled with a variety of foliage and burnt orange flowers above the table. We can't think of anything more gorgeous!
Sacha and Curtis stuck with their alfresco dining theme when it came to the menu: crostinis and a gorgonzola salad, followed by family-style Italian classics like calamari and meatballs parmesan. Instead of a wedding cake, they went for tiramisu—the perfect way to end the Tuscan-inspired meal!
Sacha and Curtis pulled off their dream wedding without going a cent over budget. "You can have a good time without going into debt!" she says. "What was most special to us was that our closest family members got to know one another for the first time."
