With their Fourth of July weekend wedding quickly approaching, Jessica Simpson and her fiancé of nearly four years, Eric Johnson, are getting down to the best pre-wedding celebrations of all — their bachelor and bachelorette parties!

And they did so in a fun and kind of adorable way. The couple hosted a joint co-ed bash for 40 of their friends, including their bridesmaids, groomsmen, Simpson's mom, Johnson's dad, and Johnson's former football teammates at the Warwick in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

"It wasn't about being naughty," a source tells People of the event. "They just wanted a great night out with their friends and family."

Stephanie Terblanche, one of Simpson's bridesmaids, confirmed that statement to the magazine. "They didn't want a traditional bachelor-bachelorette where they go off and do their own thing, because our group of friends is so close we just wanted to all be together."

Apparently, it was just like any other night out for this bunch. "This is what we would do anyway. We would all go out, and I think that this speaks for the group,"Terblanche added. "If we are not going to be at someone's house hanging out playing beer pong, this is the closest thing to it."

During the "relaxed" evening, she noted that "everyone had a great time" and "there were fun toasts at dinner and dancing!"

We love the idea of combining the nights into one party for everyone's friends and family members. Not all couples would invite their parents, but if Simpson's infamous reality show Newlyweds taught us anything, it's that she doesn't have your average parents. We can't wait to see what kind of fun wedding Simpson and Johnson plan!
