They don't call it a blushing bride for nothing! Aside from finding the perfect wedding-day foundation, blush is very important to attaining that that coveted big-day glow. But here in the Brides beauty department, we've been intrigued by a particular trend toward alternative blushes — the ones that don't come in the traditional compact complete with a little brush.

After testing, blending and flushing our way through a plethora of original formulations, we realized they're alternative in a these-will-give-you-the-prettiest-flush-for-your-wedding-day kind of way. They might look different, but they're super easy to use and perfect for brides-to-be.

Best Custom Color: Ready-to-Wear Cosmetics Chameleon Custom Color Blush, $24, HSN
This comes out of the tube white, but don't let that scare you. The second you start rubbing it into your cheeks, it works like magic. Depending upon your skin tone, it could turn into anything from rosy pink to coral. A few staffers tested it and everyone received seamless, pretty results. "I usually wear powder blush because I have oily skin, but this one's oil free and didn't look greasy at all," one tester says. "It gave me a glow that was just dewy enough."

Best for Travel: Mai Couture Blush Papier, $17.50, Mai Couture
At first glance, this might look like a booklet of really expensive blotting papers, but delve deeper and you'll find it's actually 50 sheets of pigmented blush. Just tear out a sheet and rub it on your cheeks for fuss-free, goof-proof application — no blush brush needed. "Talk about foolproof," our tester says. "One sheet is enough for both cheeks, and they're so easy to put on that you could use them for touch ups during the car ride to your wedding reception or on the airplane en route to your honeymoon."

Best for Bronzer Addicts: Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé, $27, Becca
A few things: One, this does look as delectable and luxurious in the jar as it does on your cheeks. And two, it creates the perfect sun-kissed sheen. It's a little pink-y and a little bronze-y, so a bit of it rubbed onto the apples of your cheeks is a great alternative to traditional bronzer. "The whipped-cream texture is so light that it practically melts onto your skin," our tester says. "But it dries like a stain so it stays put forever — perfect for beach-bound brides."

Best for the Blush-Phobic: Perricone MD No Blush Blush, $35, Sephora
Coming off the heels of his hit No Foundation Foundation, one of our all-time favorite dermatologists, Dr. Nicholas Perricone, created a makeup line dedicated to "I woke up like this" beauty. Apply three dots of product to each cheek and rub them in for a really natural-looking flush of color. "It gave me the rosy-cheeked flush I used to have when I was younger," our tester says. "And it has SPF, too!"

Best Multitasker: RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek, $36, RMS Beauty
You know how sometimes you find yourself looking at the J.Crew catalogue just to see the gorgeous hair and makeup? (Or is that just us?) Well, if you wanted to know, the secret behind their seemingly effortless glow is the organic makeup line, RMS Beauty, and we are officially obsessed with their Lip2Cheek product. It's a cheek and lipcolor that comes in a really minimalist jar that seems more luxury than organic. "I love Demure (a soft pink) for a simpler look, but Beloved (a cherry red) is great for giving you a pop of color that doesn't look to severe or painted on," our tester says. "It's glamorous without the high-maintenance factor!"
