Oscar de la Renta stuck to his classic polished aesthetic, but with a playfully tropical twist for this year's Spring 2015 bridal runway season. Cotton eyelet and a bikini graced barefoot models amongst the mikado trumpet gowns and shimmering, heavily embroidered organza dresses with illusion necklines.
While the runway show began with the Hawaiian wedding-ready eyelet, it quickly transformed to showing body-conscious silhouettes crafted from more formal fabrics and even more eye-catching detail-work. One thing that rang true throughout the entire range, though, was an overwhelming feeling of romance — whether it was a cotton cap-sleeve A-line dress, begging to be worn for a beach elopement, or a glistening extra formal silk ball gown with ruffled sleeves.
Even when heavier fabrics — such as silk faille, satin, and mikado — were used, they were offset with free-flowing graduated A-line skirts, whimsically full shapes, and airy layers of tulle.
