If life gives you lemons ... well, use them, lovely brides! Better yet, head to the supermarket and stock up well in advance of your wedding day. After all, lemons can give every bride a health and beauty boost. Here's how:
Glowing skin: Holistic beauty experts have long praised lemons for their high vitamin C content, which they believe, if eaten regularly, can translate into healthy, radiant skin. In fact, some celebrities we know and love start their day with hot lemon water (just mix the juice of one lemon with hot water and sip it like tea).
Acne control: There are plenty of things to avoid right before the wedding, but lemons aren't one of them. The reason? They may help fight off last-minute acne flare-ups. Some skin experts believe that the high concentration citric acid in lemons may zap blemish-causing bacteria. Dab a few drops on a cotton ball and apply to acne-prone areas, or mix with warm honey and make a paste.
Stress reduction: Aromatherapists often turn to lemon oil to help people feel calm, less stressed and centered (sounds like something for you, right brides?). You can find lemon oil at natural food stores, or simply shave off some of the zest of a lemon and breathe in the aroma. Insta-zen.
Inner detox: It's no wonder that lemons make appearances in almost every juice cleanse on the market. Nutrition experts know that lemon juice has the natural ability to help detoxify your cells. Whether you squeeze lemon juice into your morning tea or mix it into the vinaigrette that tops your salad, boosting your lemon intake could lead to a healthier you.
