We saw this one coming: Ashlee Simpson is engaged to her boyfriend of almost a year, Evan Ross. Simpson gleefully announced the news on her Twitter account last night with the photo seen above and the caption, "My baby love and I are ENGAGED!!! Hallelujah Hawaii !!!!!" By the sound of it, Ross proposed in Hawaii, a very romantic proposal spot.

Ross wasn't shy about making the news public, either. He sent out a Tweet with the same photo that said, "The love of my life said YES!!!!!!"
If their engagement wasn't a complete and total surprise, then the engagement ring certainly is! Evan, the son of legendary singer Diana Ross, popped the question with a blinding Neil Lane diamond ring in a unique setting. Not a bad choice for the edgy singer; we wonder if he got any help from his glamazon mother!

Their happy news comes less than two months after Ross declared his love for Simpson at the premiere of his latest movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. "She's the one," he said, explaining that the two had been friends for a while before they took their romantic relationship public this past July.

"I'm so in love and we've got amazing things going on," Ross told omg! Insider at the event, adding that he could "for sure" see wedding bells in their future and that, "We inspire each other."
As if that wasn't heart-warming enough, he's also been spotted spending quality time with her son Bronx, whom she had with her first husband, Fall Out Boy singer Pete Wentz.
With such a fast-tracked romance, we have to wonder if Ashlee will beat big sis Jessica to the altar! Jessica and her fiancé of three years, former football player Eric Johnson, are reportedly getting married in a destination wedding in May. That gives Ashlee and Evan four months to plan a wedding, but we doubt she'd want to overshadow the event her sister has been planning for so long!
No matter how quickly or slowly she plans her big day, we know one thing is for sure. Both Simpson sisters will be bridesmaids very soon.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
