On June 8th, 2013, with the breathtaking view of Wilson Peak in the background, Lacey and Kevin wed at gorgeous mountaintop wedding that brought the lush beauty of an English garden to the peaks of Telluride. 14 months earlier, Kevin had proposed to Lacey with the same mountain view in the background, so it was only fitting that they choose a similar location to say "I Do."
The couple, who met while they were students at the University of Kansas, unexpectedly reconnected in 2009 when they both moved to Telluride. The beautiful mountain town was the perfect place to gather 350 family and friends for a comfortable, but incredibly elegant, celebration. Says Lacey, "The spectacular views took my breath away." The outdoor ceremony took place in the glow of the afternoon sun, and a huge tent was transformed into an enchanted venue with the help of candelabras, chandeliers, and incredible décor. A touch of rustic charm, vintage-style furniture, and lots and lots of flowers brought this couple's wedding vision to life.
With a sweeping view of Wilson peak, it didn't take much to create an incredible ceremony venue for Lacey and Kevin's wedding. Urns overflowing with hydrangeas created an English garden vibe, while an altar draped in vines (and completed with a crystal chandelier) perfectly framed the view.
Lacey paired her lace Monique Lhuillier gown with a dramatic 14-foot train and soft curls. She carried a cascading bouquet of white orchids, stephanotis, gardenias, and roses. Kevin's thistle boutonniere was a rustic, colorful nod to the wedding's mountain location.
The traditional ceremony was full of sweet, poignant moments. One such moment occurred when the couple's flower girl stopped to hand a flower petal to each guest instead of tossing them as she made her way down the aisle. Though the aisle was bare, the memory makes up for it!
The bride's lace trumpet Monique Lhuillier gown and the groom's classic tuxedo were perfect for their formal celebration on a mountaintop.
A huge tent was built to accommodate the couple's 350 guests. Draped fabric and wrought iron chandeliers were hung above the tables, featuring three different designs. Candelabras and topiaries, mixed with votive candles and lower arrangements, transformed the tent into an exquisite wedding venue.
Tables topped with white linens featured tall silver candelabras. Delicate greenery created the feel of a lush, overgrown garden. Square tables with darker linens were topped with topiaries of white orchids. Fresh green pears surrounded the base, adding a touch of color to the table.
Uncovered wooden tables added rustic charm to the room. Roses, gardenias, and pears, interspersed with votive candles, provided sweet and simple décor.
The bride and groom's chairs were decorated with wreaths of greenery. Centerpieces of hydrangeas and orchids topped a mirrored table runner, giving the head table an extra dose of drama.
The couple's simple, 7-tiered wedding lemon cake, topped with vanilla frosting, was wrapped with fresh greenery and flowers. "We wanted an organic but formal look," says Lacey.
The bride's advice for couples planning their weddings is to take their time. "I was thrilled we had a longer engagement," says Lacey. "That way, we could prepare and have the wedding we had always dreamed of!" And though the couple had a large guest list, they made it work and were thrilled with the results.
