It was the carrot crunch heard around the world: Beyoncé and Jay Z have gone vegan, well, at least for 22 days, according to reports by People.com. And to give their healthy new diet some public fanfare, they dined together recently at a popular LA vegan restaurant, where Beyoncé Instagrammed a few photos of her veggie-forward feast. Whether going vegan is your thing or not, here's what we can all learn from this power couple's big move:
1. Together = better. Relationship expert Mark Goulston, M.D., says that couples who walk, literally, side-by-side, are happiest in the long run. But there's also something to be said about figuratively walking together in your choices. If he's interested in cooking classes, join him! If your dream is to master the art of salsa dancing, take his hand. Beyoncé and Jay Z get that together is so much better.
2. Fit couples are happier couples. Beyoncé and Jay Z's commitment to health is not only great for their individual fitness, but it's essential for the health of their relationship too. Studies show that couples who eat right, keep a healthy weight, and exercise together are not only happier, but have better sex lives. (As if Sasha Fierce needs any help in that department!)
3. Always growing, always evolving. Stagnancy can be the death of even the best relationships, which is why experts warn that if each person isn't evolving and growing (and doing that together) things can get stale. Take a tip from Beyoncé and her man and think of something new and fun to try together, whether it's committing to a new diet or just a fun new Sunday tradition.
