Nailing your pre-wedding hair and makeup trial is just as much a part of your wedding-day prep as a dress fitting, cake tasting and rehearsal dinner. It's helpful to work with your makeup artist of choice to not only set the tone for your wedding-day skin, blush, lip, and eye look, but to also ensure application runs smoothly when it comes time to walk down the aisle. Which is why we turned to beauty-guru-turned-entrepreneur Sonia Kashuk—who also has a hot makeup line at Target—for expert tips on the ultimate makeup trial. Three lucky brides offered up their skin for Kashuk's genius experience and advice. Here, Kashuk suggests how they should do their makeup on their wedding day.

Bride 1: Natalie, 27
Getting Married Spring 2014, Sedona, Arizona
The Plan To add polish to her sporty beauty (and showcase that great skin).

Natalie's getting hitched in the blazing Arizona sun, so Kashuk started with a mattifier and added a lightweight powder. "You want to look dewy—not super-shiny—in your wedding photos," she says. For rosy cheeks, "blend, blend, blend," says Kashuk. "You should never see where blush begins or ends." Topping it all off with "triple pink" lips, Kashuk layered pencil, lipstick, and gloss, all in different riffs on the rosy hue. "That's the way to customize your look," she says.

Bride 2: Carly, 32
Getting Married August 2013, New York City
The Plan To play up her deep-set brown eyes with seriously sexy shadows and liner.

"For a nice fullness, I put more shadow right at the lash line and then added a little more definition in the crease," says Kashuk. Then, Kashuk dabbed on colored brow gel a shade lighter than the shadow. "If the brows were strong as well, it would be too much," she says. "To balance out the eye, a soft lip is so pretty," she says. "Layer pink under the nude so it doesn't gray out."

Bride 3: Jane, 31
Getting Married November 2013, Palos Verdes, California
The Plan To glam up her look with red lips and contoured cheeks.

"I layered highlighter under blush and dabbed it around her eyes and cheekbones for definition. The highlighter pops through the blush with a nice bit of shimmer," says Kashuk. "Jane already has some natural color, so light bronzer isn't too contrasty," she says. "And it connects the dark hair and dark eyes." To get the lips just right, Kashuk swiped lip gloss over a matte pencil base: "I like either a matte red lip or just a hint of shine. I'm not into glossy red lips for brides. Too gooey."

The takeaway? No matter what look you're trying to achieve on your wedding day, play up your natural assets and make sure to balance (i.e. smokey eyes don't go well with a bold red lip) those beautiful features!
